Split thy Skull Strong Ale & Barleywine Fest
What started as a low-key customer appreciation gathering & bottleshare has finally returned!
Join friends of Strong Ales & Barleywine to taste and share some rarely accessible beer with fellow beer enthusiasts interconnected over the last decade plus.
This is our 7th year of Split thy Skull, after a 7yr hiatus!
The event started as a customer appreciation store tasting and has grown into something to benefit the local craft beer scene- a tasting of festival proportions!!!! We started with 13 different bottled Barleywines, the tasting evolved to feature over 150 Barleywine Style Ales, bottled, kegged, and casked of vintages up to twenty years old...
We will be selling tickets this year-- the money collected after rental costs associated with our venue are deducted will be 100% earmarked for a new, local non-profit: Bombshell Project, which helps women accelerate their path to brewery leadership and ownership, and was founded by 3 female-owned breweries: Hog River Brewing, Hop Culture Farms & Brew Co. and Rhythm Brewing Co.
We have been cellaring Barleywine since founding Harvest in 2010 and can't wait to open our gently aging bounty along with all the newer releases that have come to Connecticut & been donated in the last year... we treat this event as a bottleshare; all guests are encouraged to bring a bottle or two from the cellar!
Please respond (brewers, customers, beer lovers, barleywine heads) with any wisdom, questions, or just rsvp to bring us some beer!
