Welcome To Campus
Swim Pony Performing Arts is excited to premiere a new project as part of the Mandell Professional in Residence Program at Drexel University called WELCOME TO CAMPUS.
The show explores what going to college means - what it's for, how we evaluate its use, and what exactly we think we're paying for when plunk down tuition - through true accounts of actual students in the midst of the experience.
Get your orientation folder, Drexel (TM) pen, and application ready!
You'll need them to come undercover with us and find out what it's really like to be a student at Drexel on this "off the admissions map" tour. Audiences will explore the nooks and crannies of the actual campus to see it the way students do as University City is transformed into a theatrical landscape and scenes emerge magically out of every day life.
You might find yourself sitting at a desk in well used classroom or hanging out in the commuter lounge, on an awkward first date or squeezing into in a tiny dorm room. Maybe even getting kicked out of a place or two...
IMPORTANT NOTES: - Note you MUST BRING AN ID (student IDs are fine) to this event to enter some of the locations. - This show includes just over 1.5 miles of moderate walking including some stairs. - It also takes place, in part, outside. (You know, like an actual campus tour.) Dress accordingly! - There is some *light* interaction with the performers. If you really don't want theater that includes more than sitting in a dark room watching the stage, maybe sit this one out. (But come on, you can handle this, it's going to be a hella lot of fun.)
