Yiddish dance, like many European dances, is often done by dancers in a circle. Some of those dances have specific step patterns; another, the very Yiddish freylekhs, is more concerned with patterns in space than footwork. In this class, taught by world-renowned Yiddish dance instructor Steve Weintraub, participants will learn several of these dances, some with Romanian origins. All of them can be thought of as little communal journeys. With musical accompaniment by accordionist Lauren Brody.
