Paul Thompson Jazz Quartet
Paul Thompson has played bass professionally for over 25 years, including recording and touring stints with trumpeter Maynard Ferguson and saxophonist Stanley Turrentine. Currently, he can be seen playing around Pittsburgh with Salsamba!, THOTH Trio, the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra, in pit orchestras, Musical Theatre, Front Porch Theatricals, PCLO, and Pittsburgh Public Theatre, or performing with some of Pittsburgh's rich Jazz community. Performance credits include Hubert Laws, Geri Allen, Michael Feinstein, Bob James, Phil Woods, Sean Jones, and Billy Porter.
The Paul Thompson Jazz Quartet represents different generations of jazz music from one of Americas centers of the art form Pittsburgh, Pa. Combining original music and standard repertoire; the group focuses on creating a new sound while firmly embodying the traditions of jazz. Each group member has extensive performing credits in Pittsburgh, around the country, and internationally while continuing to play within the abundant jazz community in our city.
