Two blocks past Andronico's Supermarket Shattuck Ave. forks. Stay to the right, take the right fork. At the fork you are only a block from the meeting spot. Plenty of street parking is available.
Walking go North on Shattuck Ave. (1.25mi), to Live Oak Park. (Toward University Ave.from the BART exit).

All  tours depart on time, we don't want to hold up those who made it on time, so be sure to be on time. If this is your first time coming to this location please plan carefully.

Total walking distance will be five total miles.
For the most part, walked at a slow pace. There is an option to take a special redwood forested and ivy covered path, with a waterfall destination for those a little more adventurous.

The beginning of the tour will look at the Architectural Heritage houses designed by Bernard Maybeck and others (Julia Morgan, John Galen Howard, etc); Sack House, Bay Regionalism House, Weltevreden and the Living Love Center.

And in remembrance of Pete Seeger, we'll visit his familie's home on our way to the UC Campus.

This next part of the tour will focus on the classical Ecole des Beaux-Arts, "Athens of the West", campus core buildings along the university's master plan axis, of 1898.

In particular those early campus buildings designed and built by UC Professor & Campus Architect, John Galen Howard.

Later we will be tour the, First Church of Christ, Scientist, (2619 Dwight Way, at Bowditch Ave.) Bernard Maybeck's tour de force; a National Historic Landmark.

Learn about the early 19th century competition between the Stanford and Hearst families to make "their" University, the most prominent.

Eat a good breakfast and bring some water, hearty snacks and/or a sandwich water. We'll stop along the way in a scenic spot for lunch.

Wear walking shoes or whatever sturdy footwear. Sandals, clogs, flip-flops and other flimsy footwear is not at all recommended.

Saul's, a very excellent, New York style deli is a good stop after the tour? If you go to Saul's Deli you won't have to use your car to get there, or walk out of your way, if using BART. The deli is a block from our meeting spot; as are many other close by restaurants. Chez Panisse to name one of the best, is a very short walk from the cars.

Lastly there are many excellent shops and boutiques in the immediate vicinity. So you can plan for a shopping sojourn afterwards while in the area. Rain, just wear your raingear it's a go.
