When Hughes, a young man from the French West Indies, discovers the new Freetime ad, it is a shock : France, the country where he was born, to which he owes his life and his identity, considers him a cannibal. This is the start of a radical awareness fueled by anger and frustration. (NYC premiere. In French and Creole, with Englisb subtitles)
*** Sagittarius (SCR/DIR s/n. USA, 2019, 03:37. Music video.) This short film was made for recording artist Quilla by s/n (Jennida Chase and Hassan Pitts) along with University of North Carolina Greenborough film majors, and funded in part by the Office of Undergraduate Research (NYC premiere)
*** Il Moro - The Moor (SCR/DIR Daphne Di Cinto, ITALY, 2021, color, 21:00.) A period piece about the rise to power in the 1500s of Alessandro de Medici, heir of the Medici dynasty born from the out-of-wedlock union between Pope Clement VII and an African slave. Alessandro became the first Duke of Florence. Alessandro de Medici has mostly been overlooked in historical chronicles. While he lies in a tomb in a prestigious chapel, resting place of many Medici men, his tomb does not report his name. The film returns to Bronx World Film Cycle after its Bronx premiere in November 2022, in our first collaboration with Cinema on the Sound.
