Turn The World Around
Join us for this inaugural event of musical entertainment as we honor our friend and mentor, Mr. John Cartwright. A generous mentor to so many musicians, John began his career with the U.S. Air Force Band of the West. He soon found a home with Mr. Harry Belafonte, first  touring and performing bass and then becoming General Manager to Belafonte Enterprises, Inc. John would go on to lend his varied musical skills to Broadway and support such noted artists as Luther Vandross, Miriam Makeba, Diane Reeves, and more.

The theme for the night is Turn the World Around, the title of a song performed by Mr. Harry Belafonte and written by himself and Mr. Robert Freedman. It's a simple concept, yet hard to do. It's easier with music. The concert will have a multi-cultural musical theme and at times, percussionists, led by Mr. Steve Reid, formerly of SuperTramp and The Rippingtons, will fill the stage.

Proceeds will support breast cancer research in honor of Nadgia James, John's daughter, who succumbed to breast cancer in 2008.

On stage performing with John, will be:

Steve Reid, Terry Cano (Musical Director), Tracy Newman and the Reinforcements, Freebo, Severin Browne, Ed Tree, Shanna O'Brien, John O'Kennedy, Gary Stockdale, Mark "Pocket" Goldberg, Debra Dobkin, Eric Kufs, David Stone, Mara Wells, Vincent Reyes, Stacy Robin, Jack Sollecito, Doug Knoll, Jime Van Booven, Mike Bisch, Leo Valenzuela, and D Jennings.

To make a donation to breast cancer research, or to become an event sponsor, contact 2nd Side Adventures, LLC through Diana Weynand at 818-970-8785 or diana@weynand.com.
