It is a significant year for the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at UBC.After a long and successful career, Dr. Bill Ramey will be retiring from the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Dr. Ramey has been a pillar of the department for a long time, as an invaluable mentor and a tireless advocate for students.
As such, the Microbiology & Immunology Student's Association is holding a gala in to honour his many contributions to the department and to raise money for an award in his name.
The Dr. Bill Ramey Award will honour Dr. Ramey's enduring legacy at the University of British Columbia. It will be awarded to students who have made an outstanding contribution to the department through dedication to student life and the development of the community. As such, it will provide invaluable financial support for deserving students in the department.
Dr. Ramey has come to symbolize dedication to the community of Microbiology and Immunology, and this award will support those students who continue in his footsteps, as they take on the role of ambassadors for the program through their actions, their enthusiasm, and their relentless drive to improve the learning experience of others.
On Saturday, March 1st, at 4:00 pm we will gather in UBC's Life Sciences Institute West Atrium and share stories and our appreciation for Dr. Ramey over refreshments. Speakers and entertainment have been arranged!
