Parents Colloquium: Helping Adolescents Avoid Taking on the Emotional Burdens of Others
The Parents' Association is pleased to formally introduce the Parents' Colloquium, an educational series that provides you an opportunity to hear from some of Chicago's leading experts on parenting healthy teens. After positive feedback at our first pilot Colloquium, we are sure that you will want to join us for this special series. Parents also share insights with fellow parents in an informal environment. The goal is to help us learn how to best support the complexities of raising our Academy teens and continue to deepen parent relationships in the Academy community.
Our next speaker is John Sykes. For nearly three decades, he has worked within the Chicago metropolitan area building on the strengths of individuals, families and communities. Hegained many skills and talents in direct service and executive leaderships roles in the non-profit arena, including managing community mental health centers, residential treatment facilities, and drop-in youth centers. Currently, John has a private therapy practice in Hyde Park and is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration. He is graciously charitably contributing his time to talk with us, so please join us if you can.
