Mòd nan Lochan Mòra: The Great Lakes Mòd, 2014
Welcome to the registration page for Mòd nan Lochan Mòra!
We are delighted to welcome Rona Lightfoot from South Uist as our adjudicator for this, our twelfth Great Lakes Mòd. Rona has been described thus: Singer, piper, storyteller, teacher and all-round tradition bearer, Rona Lightfoot is one of Gaeldom's great characters, a one-woman ceilidh with a treasure trove of folklore and the spirit to take on authority and win. The Competitions Friday June 27, 4:00 p.m.: Storytelling (self-select) and prescribed poem at the Rodeway Inn, Medina. The poems for both advanced and beginning learners TBA. Saturday June 28, 9:30 a.m.: Song competition starts at the Ohio Scottish Games, Lorain County Fairgrounds Office, Bldg. 44.

Note: Singers can sing one or two songs but for consideration for overall prizes they must sing both prescribed songs. Performance at the Performing Arts Venue Join us in the afternoon after the Mòd at the Performing Arts Stage, Building 17, for a waulking demonstration and singing by Rona Lightfoot.
Mòd Banquet and Ceilidh The Mod Banquet and Ceilidh will take place Saturday evening at the Oberlin Inn at 6:00 p.m. beginning with a reception followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m. Presenting of awards and the ceilidh will take place after dinner.
On Sunday, June 29, we will have a Gaelic song workshop, led by Rona herself - this workshop by itself will be worth the effort to come and be a part of our Mòd!
The Prizes Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place for Gaelic Language and for Music for each competition and for overall scores. Ohio Scottish Games Championship medals will be awarded for the best overall scores for the day for language and music.
Many thanks to Margaret Callander for making this recognition possible by her donation of the championship medals. The Catherine Mackin Memorial Quaich, donated by Frances Acar, will be awarded for the best overall score for Music. The Margaret Rose Crystal, donated by Ms Annie Campbell, will be awarded for the best overall score for Gaelic. The Clan Donald Prize for Poetry, donated by Donne and Craig Shepperly, will be awarded for the best score for advanced poetry recitation. The Scottish American Society prize for poetry will be awarded for the best score for beginning poetry recitation. Competitors will be listed on an insert.
