Folkadelphia presents: Jesse Sparhawk & Eric Carbonara (record release), Charlie Parr, and Ben Warfield
JESSE SPARHAWK & ERIC CARBONARA: http://jessesparhawk.bandcamp.com/album/sixty-strings
Release show for Tributes & Diatribes on VHF Records.
Jesse Sparhawk (lever harp) and Eric Carbonara (various guitars) perform acoustic instrumental duet pieces deeply inspired by and rooted in a love of devotional music from various cultures. While both are accomplished instrumentalists who record and tour in support of their own solo endeavors, together here as a duo, they offer a deeper and more varied sound palette that extends beyond the boundaries of their respective solo effort (adapted bio).
CHARLIE PARR: http://www.charlieparr.com/
Many people play roots music, but few modern musicians live those roots like Minnesota's Charlie Parr. Recording since the earliest days of the 21st century, Parr's heartfelt and plaintive original folk blues and traditional spirituals don't strive for authenticity: They are authentic.
Playing his roots, living his roots, and now finding unexplored territory in them, Charlie Parr is releasing an incredible journey into his musical mind and spirit 'Hollandale,' through Chaperone Records, January 28. Inspired by early 20th Century folk blues, engineered specifically for vinyl, and as sonically unique as the recording environment and musician himself, portions of the five improvised 12-string instrumental songs on this album will be played during live shows, but they will never be quite the same (adapted bio).
BEN WARFIELD: https://soundcloud.com/benwarfield
By day, Ben Warfield contributes to scientific research studying the biological effects of light on humans and in his spare time he pursues the larger questions raised by those scientific journeys in the form of music, video and photography. His lab aids in the development of novel lighting environments for astronauts during spaceflight. Meanwhile, his songs and projections explore the themes of space travel, cosmic timescales and our complex biological need for both light and darkness (adapted from AUX bio).
