Southern Comforts
In a sprawling New Jersey Victorian, set-in-his-ways, grumpy Gus meets Amanda, a vivacious, widowed Southern Belle who is visiting her daughter. Playwright Kathleen Clark uses her writing skills to turn their instant attraction into a tour-de-force journey into each others hearts. The relationship between the feisty, church-every-Sunday Christian, Democrat from Tennessee and the taciturn, church-avoiding, Yankee Republican is an undeniable exploration into whether opposites really do attract. Along the way Cupid certainly does prove to have a wry sense of humor. The electricity between this December-December twosome is unmistakable, although sometimes it excites and other times it shocks. Without doubt this warm, romantic comedy will utterly charm you and make you laugh and cheer for this second chance at love. The director and actors for Southern Comforts bring an exciting mix of experience and passion to the Canyon Moon stage.
