Show Description: Join Commonwealth Circus Center and Artivism Dance Theatre for this circus and dance extravaganza. You watch the classic American dream as it plays out for one young clown on the heels of entering the job market for the first time. Oh, how the world spins in bombastic and brutally unfair ways for even folks who are efforting hard. Isnt it a meritocracy anymore? If only she knew. Watch the story unfold with music, dancing, and yes, a little bit of mayhem, ahem, circus.

Directed by Sophia Herscu & Sophia Rabinovitz

Performed by: Alex Oliva, Jordan Swish Smith, Leah Abel, Madyson Barbain, Mandy Hackman, and Sarah Noelle Prescott.

Pricing:
In the past, we have priced shows $10 for Youth and $20 for Adults. As you choose your ticket price option, please keep our standard pricing in mind. We are excited to be able to offer this sliding scale option and appreciate everyone for supporting our circus and visiting director and dance artists!

This show is a collaboration between Aritivism Dance Theatre & Commonwealth Circus Center!

A Bit About Artivism:
Artivism Dance Theatre is a collective of artists dedicated to bringing awareness to social issues through art.

We tell our own stories in an effort to reach across divisions, find commonality, and spark change. We prioritize communication of social message over esoteric performance, often using multimedia techniques in our work. We believe that art, and specifically movement, can communicate perspective and experience across gaps in culture, language,  and tradition that might otherwise remain unreachable.

The collaborative is comprised of dance professionals with years of experience in both performance and instruction. Trained in a great variety of techniques, Artivism's repertoire displays the expertise of company members ranging from movements of the African diaspora to the Ballet. We believe in the power of movement to transform our health, our lives, and our communities.

A Bit About C3: We are the one-room circus schoolhouse in Jamaica Plain dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where we bring people together to learn, self-express, and create through the joy and challenge of circus arts. We say YES to creativity, collaboration, and community! Its never too late to run away to the circus in JP. In 2022 we'll be looking to create more circus shows with students and staff so that the Boston community can have more exposure to what circus performance is and can be!

A Bit About the Directors: THE SOPHIAS
In addition to this show being a collaboration between Artivism and C3, this show is a SOPHIAS collaborationand marks the first full-length production Sophia Herscu and Sophia Rabinovit have created in their 32 years of friendship and creative partnership. The SOPHIAS are two childhood best friends who are reunited after spending the last decade founding and running multiple dance and circus companies in Colorado, Philadelphia, Boston, London, and New Orleans. Throughout the pandemic, they each became solo business owners of a dance and circus school respectively. After grinding hard in business it was time for a little fun and also high time to take a real look at the harmful thing that is capitalism but that we all participate in.
