Keep On Dancing!
COVID-19 Protocols:
The health and safety of all parties is our utmost concern, please note the following for guests ages 5 and up:
Masks must be worn at all times despite vaccination status
Guests who are fully vaccinated must provide proof of vaccination with ID upon arrival.
Guests who are not fully vaccinated must present their negative PCR test dated between June 8, 2022 to June 11th, 2022.
PLASE NOTE: Rapid tests are not accepted.
On June 12th, 2022, The Purelements COAR program will present Keep on Dancing, as we return to the theater! The Center of Artistic Refinement (COAR) is a rigorous youth and pre-professional training program designed to expose and prepare young people in underserved neighborhoods for careers in performing arts. Through technical training, performance opportunities, and mentorship, participants study various disciplines including Ballet, Modern, West African, Hip Hop and Tap. Over the years the program has provided a nurturing and creative environment for up to 130 students aged three to adult to develop as artists, build friendships, and be a part of a thriving community. Due to the recent pandemic, COAR has been deeply challenged as the program experienced a 73% drop in student participation. Now we are working to rebuild our community, and continue to provide a place of joy and learning for our students and families.
Our goal will be to celebrate the importance of creative resilience, love of family and a healthy community. To expand our reach and share this experience, we have partnered with The Legacy School of the Arts, and the Alonzo A. Daughtry Memorial Daycare Center. At both of these locations the COAR program provides in person dance classes to novice student dancers, aged two twelve years old. For the first time in COAR history we will bring three locations together to perform, providing a memorable and healing dance experience for the children, family and friends.
