MR. BURNS: A POST ELECTRIC PLAY by Anne Washburn

Having survived an apocalyptic event, survivors try to piece together the pop culture of their past world. A ragtag group of actors produces their interpretation of an old Simpsons episode, along with other elements of popular entertainment of the era. Will this culture survive into the distant future? What elements will remain? What if we held our current culture in the same esteem as we hold the popular entertainment of the past? Is it possible Sophocles and Shakespeare were just trying to entertain people?
