Sólo Cantar is both a show lifting up the healing power of music through songs and stories connecting generations, cultures, and lived experiences, and a celebration of the life of Luis Felipe Romero, Jr., the father of creator, LeLaina Romero. Luis died of complications related to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease) on June 20, 2016. Funds raised from the show will support the ALS Association, North Carolina Chapter.
In-person tickets at the Durham Arts Council PSI Theatre are $30, though you can pay more to support the work of the Chapter! The livestream is free, though donations are suggested and appreciated. You can access the livestream here: https://tinyurl.com/SoloCantarLIVE The link will go active at Saturday at 7pm EST, though you can click on it now to set a reminder!

A beautiful community of musicians and storytellers will bring Sólo Cantar to life on the stage of the Durham Arts Council PSI Theatre. Along with covers of some of Luis's favorite songs from the last 50 plus years, the show will debut four original songs that LeLaina wrote!
This show is brought to you by co-producers Brevan Hampden (drums and percussion) and LeAndra McPhatter (piano), and event producer and super siren from L.A., Jyvonne Haskin, who will also be on vocals! The band also features incredible local musicians, including Ramón Casiano and Mykal Slack on vocals; a rhythm section with Russell Favret (guitar), Butler Knowles (bass), and Atiba Rorie (percussion); and James Armstrong (trumpet), Andy Kleindienst (trombone), and Keenan McKenzie (saxophone) on horns. You won't want to miss this amazing lineup of story, song, and talent!
Masks and proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be required for in-person attendance.
