Cara Rose / The Glad Cafe / 10.12.2021
Cara Rose is a 23-year-old singer-songwriter from Glasgow, Scotland. Exploring what it means to be a young woman traversing life in such uncertain times, Cara's soulful musings have won over fans of all ages as she honed her craft across the venues of Glasgow. Distinctly Glaswegian, Cara's direct, passionate and insightful lyrics hold no punches as she traverses topics of love, life, and her place in the world.

Debut single Learn to Speak, a tale of turmoil and resolve, cemented the growing excitement surrounding one of the country's brightest young talents, garnering editorial support from Spotify and reaching over 2  million streams, winning her fans across her native Scotland, Europe, and North America. Developing on her stripped-back meditations, Cara ventured into the studio in early 2020 with esteemed producer Matt Ingram (Lianne La Havas, Laura Marling) to begin complete what would be her debut EP, Urges released to palpable excitement in October 2020.

Having spent the lockdown period with her family in a small coastal town in the West of Scotland, Cara began to pen her most expressive and introspective work to date, culminating in a new EP of delicate piano ballads that exude a talent far beyond her years. How It Feels (out November) sees the young songwriter at her most vulnerable lyrically and leans willingly into her jazz influence that soundtracked much of her childhood.

Musically gifted from a young age, Cara nurtured her love for music from the soul, her sound alluding to artists such as Amy Winehouse, Nina Simone, Lauryn Hill, Joan Armatrading, and John Martyn.

Prior to the shutdown, Cara had played gigs across her native Scotland, with esteemed slots at TRNSMT (2 years in a row, as well as appearing on the BBC highlights show), Tenement Trail, Celtic Connections, Eden Festival and has most recently supported Cory Wong of Vulpeck at the QMU. With no music released, Cara sold out both of her 2019 Glasgow headline shows at The Blue Arrow Jazz Club (180 cap) and The Savings Bank (250 cap). She supported Glasgow riser Joesef at his sold-out, back-to-back King Tuts headlines, as well at his 1300 capacity SWG3 show in December 2019.

She played her first headline in over 18 months on August 31st at King Tuts in Glasgow, as part of their Summer Nights month-long festival.
