Wonders Child Care - In-Sync Activities to Promote Children's Learning, Social Participation, and Fun! An Evening of Learning for Parents and Educators with Carol Kranowitz
Simple and fun activities to develop social, cognitive and motor skills in children. Carol will provide parents and educators with hands-on activities that will encourage kids' active participation in the three-dimensional world. The activities emphasize social interaction and communication, heavy work, messy and not-so-messy play, body awareness, balance, rhythm and timing, visual-spatial and auditory-language processing, motor planning, crossing the midline, and calming down. You will see that equipment need not be fancy -- string, sticks, spoons, bicycle inner tubes, boxes, exercise bands, and even toilet plungers (new) are marvelous implements of fun. All the ideas that can be packed into an hour are easy to incorporate into your classroom or home.
Carol Kranowitz, best-known for her book, The Out-of-Sync Child, which has sold more than 600,000 copies, was the music, movement and drama teacher at St. Columba's Nursery School in Washington for over 25 years. Today, she teaches parents, educators, and other professionals about the importance of getting school-aged ids moving to enhance their sensory-motor skills and overall learning. Her suggestions of fun and functional activities are easy to incorporate into the classroom and home. Carol's many publications include, "101 Activities for Kids in Tight Spaces" and, with co-author Joey Newman, "Growing an In-Sync Child: Simple, Fun Activities to Help Every Child Develop, Learn and Grow" and its sequel, "In-Sync Activity Cards."
Carol received her B.A. from Barnard College and her M.A. in Education & Human Development from The George Washington University. She has five grandchildren, plays the cello, and lives in Bethesda.
