Apple of My Eye / Menina dos Meus Olhos
The play Apple of My Eye is simple and straightforward: Bella is a girl with Down syndrome who lives a life full of love, hate, jealousy, manipulation, discrimination and a sense of community. Bella experiences discrimination in society, including from her own parents. Imprisoned by Toto, and after much suffering, she seeks help from a friend who introduces her to the love of her life, Bruno. Through the play's ten characters, Thatiana explores ways to express her thoughts regarding discrimination, love, prejudice and even the hatred sometimes expressed towards Down syndrome and to prove that differences can transcend our expectations of what qualifies as "normal."

Produced by Nettles Artists Collective, directed by Debora Balardini and performed by a cast of ten professional actors, the play will have three presentations on December 13, 14 and 15 at Teatro Círculo (64 East 4th Street, New York, NY).

Performance in Portuguese with English supertitles!

DECEMBER 15th PERFORMANCE will be followed by a Q&A
"Breaking Barriers - Exploring views around the play Apple of My Eye"
