Celebrated Piano Quartets
Lisker Music Foundation's fall season finale features two of the most beloved piano quartets in classical music, world renowned musicians, all held in one of the most prestigious concert venues in Illinois.

Xiayin Wang - piano
An artist with a winning combination of superb musicianship, personal verve, and riveting technical brilliance, pianist Xiayin Wang conquers the hearts of audiences wherever she appears. Upcoming projects in 2012/13 include recording sessions with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra for Chandos that include works by Barber, Copland and Gershwin. She also makes her debut with the Santa Barbara Syphony in Gershwin's Concerto in F and performs with the Lithuanian Symphony Orchestra. Among the highlights of season 2011/12 was a tour with the St. Petersburg Symphony with stops in Houston, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Boston, culminating in a concert at Alice Tully Hall in New York. She also performed a recital at Cadogan Hall in London, gave her debut at the Music in the Mountains Festival, partnered with Sarah Chang in Pittsburgh and appeared with the MAV Symphony in Budapest. In the spring 2011, Ms. Wang appeared in solo recital at Alice Tully Hall and in June traveled to Vienna's Mozart-Saal to perform Richard Danielpour's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 4 (2010) with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Philippe Entremont. Xiayin Wang completed studies at the Shanghai Conservatory and garnered an enviable record of first prize awards and special honors for her performances throughout China, most notably in the Fu Zhou National Piano Competition, Hang Zhou Instrumental Competition, Zhe Jiang Competition and the National Piano Competition in Beijing. She holds Bachelor's, Master's and Professional Studies degrees from the Manhattan School of Music.
David Lisker - violin
As a testament to his exceptional versatility, David Lisker has appeared as soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral performer in many of today's most prestigious concert halls including New York's Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and Merkin Hall, The Mann Auditorium in Israel, The Orange County Performing Arts Center in California, The National Arts Centre in Ottawa, and The Shanghai Theatre in China. David has also performed on the live PBS broadcast of "Live from Lincoln Center", recorded and interviewed for Bob Sherman's "Young Artist Showcase" on WQXR in New York, and was the only violinist ever to be featured on David Dubal's "Piano Matters" on WWFM Radio. David received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with Pinchas Zukerman and Patinka Kopec, and went on to receive his Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School where he studied with Itzhak Perlman.
Bela Horvath - violin/viola A prominent soloist and chamber musician, Hingarian violinist/violist Bela Horvath has performed extensively throughout Eorope and the US, has recorded all Brahms Piano Quartets on the Marquis Label, and has appeared live on NY1, WQXR, and the main classical stations in Hungary, Italy, and Canada. Bela made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2003 performing a recital in Weil Hall, then in 2008 appeared with Pinchas Zukerman alongside 2 other violinists in a performance of Vivaldi's Concerto for 4 violins in Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall, and later that year performed the Bruch Violin Concerto in Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium. Bela completed his Bachelors and Masters of Music degrees from the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with Pinchas Zukerman and Patinka Kopec.
Hiro Matsuo - cello
A native of Chicago, cellist Hiro Matsuo began his musical studies at ten and had already been featured on a PBS television program performing Saint-Saƫns' "The Swan" within a year into his studies. A bronze medalist in the 2006 Stulberg International Competition, Matsuo has earned wide recognition winning numerous competitions and awards from an early age including first place awards in National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, all divisions of Society of American Musicians Competition, Musichorale Competition, MTNA Illinois and Midwest Regional Competition, University of Illinois Cello Festival Competition and the Mary Alice Cox award from National Federation of Music Clubs. As winner of the Kishwaukee Young Artists Concerto Competition, Matsuo made his concerto debut with the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra in 2002 performing Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations. Having earned his Bachelor's Degree from the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music under the tutelage of Carter Brey, David Soyer and Peter Wiley, Matsuo is currently studying with Timothy Eddy at The Juilliard School, where he is a recipient of the Irene Diamond Graduate Fellowship, M. & E. Cohen Scholarship and J. & B. Werter Scholarship.
