Trio Lampejo at Concerts Off The Circle

Concerts Off the Circle is a house concert venue dedicated to showcasing local talent in an intimate environment.

Trio Lampejo features a brilliant young musician, Almir Côrtes from Brazil on mandolin and guitar, and the Bay Area's own, Ricardo Peixoto on guitar and Brian Rice on pandeiro and percussion, this concert will feature compositions by both Almir and Ricardo as well as some new arrangements of old favorites. Both Ricardo and Almir's music is rooted in traditional Brazilian sounds, and both have a gift in stretching those boundaries. It was this idea that was the inspiration for creating Trio Lampejo. "What an honor to play with these two great players and composers and to see how they rework and reinterpret their music for this ensemble" says percussionist Brian Rice. "They both are coming from such interesting places compositionally. I really wanted to hear what happens when they get together."
