Beyond the Borders: Bosnian Sevdah and Dance
Sevdah is the traditional music genre of urban town centers of old Bosnia and Herzegovina. The performance will feature sevdalinke by Bosnian performers now residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. The performers are Muhamed Kocan, Rasima Alisic Klisturic, and Hajrudin Hajric. They will be joined by Mary Sherhart from Seattle and True Life Trio. The band will include: Dzevad Zeric - accordion, Dzenan Gacanovic - key board and arrangments, Barbara Deutch - clarinet. The Bosnian dance ensembles, Kud Bosnjak and Mladost Bosne, perform. There will be traditional food and dancing.
