Sue Lewis and Mango Nights
Mango Nights is back in town for their new season in Portland Saturday, November 9th! We will be thrilling our fans with exciting, fresh new arrangements of Van Morrison's Moondance and Teach Me Tonight sung by sultry jazz singer Belinda Underwood. Judith Abrahm will be our special guest on vocals, flutes and harmonica. Judith is one of the best female bluegrass harmonica players in the US. Enjoy an eclectic mix of Mango Night's signature Latin Tangos, jazz, rock and World music.
Following Mango Nights at 11:00pm to 2am, will be Bruce TD King's Drag Show, aka Jennifer Lanier, with Portland's finest Queens and Kings (separate show, separate cover) The New York Times called Jennifer's work in "None of the Above" a "flash of beauty and inspiration", "a rollicking monologue". At the door $15 CASH ONLY or $25 for both shows.

Now Meet the Mango Nights Band:
Sue Lewis: Violinist, arranger and band leader, has long been recognized for her gorgeous tone and passionate, powerful approach to playing the violin. She has performed extensively with other groups throughout the greater Portland area, including the Vancouver Symphony and folk/rock, Celtic, and Gypsy/jazz musicians. Tino Ferraro, a widely experienced pianist and performer, was born and raised in a small town in the mountains of British Columbia, where he played in country and rock dance bands at the age of 15. He earned several piano scholarships and studied music with the Royal Conservatory of Music in Canada. He went on to earn a masters from Western Washington University.
Belinda Underwood:a multi-talented musician, plays upright bass and sings sultry jazz. Having studied music in Egypt with Dr. Alfred Gamil, she enhances her performances with belly dance. Belinda tours with other jazz and Middle Eastern influenced bands, and is also a well-known singer/songwriter with several recordings to her credit.
CatónLyles, Percussionist, Studio Musician, and Actor (SAG), is an accomplished musician, as well as a nightclub and concert favorite. Catón is also a Gold Record recipient for co-writing with Nu Shoozon Atlantic Records. Catón has been featured on national and international television in commercials, documentaries, and episodic programming. Judith Abrahm: woodwinds, harmonica, vocals. Judith is one of the best female bluegrass harmonica players in the US. Judith is a studio musician, band member and duet partner for numerous bands and musicians of note in many genres including Robin Flower and Friends, Mimi Fox, Woodie Simmons, Cedro Willie to name a few. Judith was a significant presence in the SF Bay Area folk music revival of the late 1970s.
