KAREN WISE
Karen Wise has been photographing food and weddings for the past 14 years. Shortly after graduating from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), she moved to New York City to assist several renowned food and still life photographers while continuing to build her wedding photography business. Karen specializes in food and wedding photography on film and she is known for her unique, colorful and elegant fine art aesthetic.
Karen recently photographed two cookbooks, a four-seasons project on location documenting the visually sumptuous culinary, farming and vineyard cultures of the Hamptons for the cookbook "Savoring the Hamptons: Discovering the Food & Wine of Long Island's East End", written by Silvia Lehrer and published by Running Press, and the Brooklyn-hipster-centric "Ultimate Nachos" for St Martin's Press. Karen photographed a third cookbook back in 2003, "The Way We Cook", written and styled by two Boston Globe food writers, Julie Riven and Sheryl Julian published by Houghton Mifflin.
Karen has been published in Food Arts, Vogue India, Marie Claire China, ELLE Japan, and the Huffington Post and is regularly featured on the most popular wedding and design blogs, such as Style Me Pretty and Design*Sponge. Karen has been awarded by PDN, WPJA and the Knot. Her photographs have recently appeared in Kodak film brochures, New York Magazine, and Martha Stewart Weddings. In spring 2008, Karen was named one of the Top Ten Wedding Photographers in the World by American PHOTO Magazine. Since then she has photographed several celebrity weddings, including the San Francisco wedding of Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer.
