Solidarity Concert for Cajibío, Colombia Womens Movement / Concierto solidario para el Movimiento de Mujeres por la Vida de Cajibío
Since 2004, Central New York activists have worked in solidarity with the rural community of Cajibío, Colombia. Midway through the show we will present a bit of that sister solidarity relationship, sustained over the years largely because of the amazing organizing power of that small farmer community with women leading the way. Audience members will have a chance for Q & A.

The Movimiento de Mujeres por la Vida de Cajibío in southwest Colombia are organizing to address low access to education and health services, to access property and land use, and to demand an end to physical and psychological violence, economic dependence and non-recognition of their contribution to the family economy, as well as to have an equal voice  in political decision-making.The Movimiento de Mujeres por la Vida de Cajibío was formed to defend women's rights, denounce violence and demand better living conditions. "Being organized allows us to recognize ourselves as women and citizens, to know our rights and to mobilize to be a force that transforms this reality."

Colleen is a bilingual vocalist and songwriter whose compositions are full of nature, social movements, and Latin American nueva canción. Colleen is a NERFA showcase artist. Besos/Kisses is her 2020 release. www.colleenkattau.com

Carlos Hernán Gutierrez, a native of Chile and self-taught musician, started playing the guitar and singing harmony for folkloric groups while in high school and college in the late 60s in Chile. He has performed with Andean musicians playing the Charango, a five double string instrument made with the shell of an armadillo, and Quena, a native flute of the Andes. He interprets music by Atahualpa Yupanqui, Victor Jara and many other Latin American musicians.

##
