A Ballad of the West
Bobby Bridger has awed audiences across the globe with his historic epic A Ballad of the West. This highly-acclaimed trilogy of historically-documented epic ballads chronicles the American West from the days of the mountain man and fur trade through the death of Lakota Holy Man, Black Elk in 1950. Canyon Moon is proud to bring this unprecedented piece to Sedona for four performances November 5-8. Bridger has been seen on PBS Austin City Limits, ABCs Good Morning America, National Public Radio and at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. Highlights of his illustrious career include being featured with David Carradine and Will Sampson in the film Black Elk Speaks and working with theatre notable the Tony nominated Dale Wasserman and being asked to perform for the Dali Lama, Mother Theresa and Carl Sagan in the closing ceremonies of the First Human Forum of Spiritual and Parliamentary Leaders on Human Survival. Bridger will perform Part One Seekers of the Fleece and Part Three Lakota in Sedona. Seekers of the Fleece presents the life of the premiere mountain man Jim Bridger during the fur trade era. Seekers of the Fleece musically dramatizes the adventures of the initial conversations between Europeans and Native Americans as well as the beginning of the Emigration Era and the Indian West Era. Lakota begins with the meeting of Nebraska epic poet John Neihardt and the Lakota Holy Man Black Elk Speaks in South Dakota in 1931. A telling of a telling of a telling, Lakota presents Black Elk s recollections to Neihardt.
