Tiny Porch Outdoor Concert Series mark your calendars for Friday, September 4th,6:30-8pm An evening of live music on Peaks Island Featuring: featuring mandolinist Joe K Walsh and PianistTom Snow
JOE K. WALSH Hailed by David Grisman as a wonderful mandolin player, and by Darol Anger as one of the best mandolinists Ive ever played with, Portland Maine-based Joe K. Walsh is known for his exceptional tone and taste, and his years of collaborations with acoustic music luminaries including banjo innovator Danny Barnes, fiddle legend Darol Anger, modern master fiddler Brittany Haas, wildly creative flatpicker Grant Gordy, bluegrass stars the Gibson Brothers, and pop/grass darlings Joy Kills Sorrow, a band he co-founded. Hes played with everyone from John Scofield to Bela Fleck to Emmylou Harris, and performed everywhere from festivals to laundromats to Nashvilles Ryman Auditorium. After a number of award-winning years as mandolinist with the Gibson Brothers, Joe currently splits his time between an inventive string band called Mr Sun (featuring Darol Anger, Grant Gordy and Aidan ODonnell), a trio with Danny Barnes and Grant Gordy, and his own band. An avid educator, Joe is a professor at the Berklee College of Music. He teaches regularly at music camps throughout North America and beyond, and teaches online through Peghead Nation.
Tom Snow is widely recognized for his incomparable excellence as a pianist, bandleader, arranger, and music educator. A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music (M.M. 2005) and the Berklee College of Music (B.M. 1991), Tom has studied with many fine pianists including Danilo Perez, Michael Cain, Jerry Bergonzi, Frank Glazer, and Chris Neville.
Toms involvement in music as a pianist and bandleader defies genre or category. He has played with a long list of musical luminaries including Harry Allen, Jeff Coffin, Dave Holland, Ken Peplowski, Greg Abate, Larry Coryell, Nick Brignola, Phil Wilson, Gray Sargent, John Lockwood, Marshall Wood, Dick Johnson, and Herb Pomeroy. Throughout the years, Tom has had long standing posts as pianist for the John Allmark Jazz Orchestra, Irelands John MacNally, famed singer/songwriter Gene McDaniels, folk icon Jonathan Edwards, and jazz legend Les DeMerle
