Cultivating Oyster Mushrooms and Farm Tour
Come and spend the afternoon with mushroom farmers Christian and Ria Kaelin as we walk you through our cultivation processes. Provisions mushroom farm is a small artisan farm nestled into the beautiful Capitol State forest in Olympia WA. We have been farming and operating a CSA program since 2006. Christian has taught at Bastyr University and has worked with WSU extension program to educate and inspire people who are interested in the fungal kingdom.
Provisions has carefully selected the choicest mushroom species, and cultivates them on clean, organic substrates.
We produce all of our mushroom mycelium in house, from Laboratory to Grow Room.We use organic and indoor farming practices to ensure the quality and cleanliness of your food.No chemical herbicides or pesticides are used in the growing process.
We have a passion to teach and explore the wonderful world of fungi with you.
This workshop includes a farm tour of our working facility and our new expansion. We will give you a firsthand experience how we cultivate a variety of gourmet and medicinal mushrooms. A lecture is given along the way and we are always eager to take your questions at any time. We value getting a hands on experience and we will give you a guided lesson in making a straw Oyster mushroom kit to take home. These kits are how we grow our Oyster mushrooms for our farmers markets and CSA program.
