Ms.Tartuffe
Get ready to travel back in time, but not too far, as Molière's 1660s play "Tartuffe" gets warped into the 1960s. Ms. Tartuffe, now a "woman of God," uses her connections to swindle her generous host, Orgon, out of his wealth and his wife. TRC performs their adaption with gender rolls swapped to deliver a provocative twist on this classic tale of deceit.
Directed by Colline Laninga with Assistant Director Ethan Whitehead, the play takes us through a household where head of the household Orgon brings home Tartuffe, a pious woman who plans to bring her divinity to the rest of Orgon's family. But the events that follow spin the people on their heads, disrupting and threatening to ruin their lives. Orgon and his family will be put to the test in this show of truths revealed.
This is the debut production of That Random Company, founded by Laninga, Whitehead and producer Joshua Hernandez, with their cast made of SUNY Purchase Drama Studies alumni and their colleagues.
Cast includes Michael Burgo, Vanessa Rappa, Catherine Dominguez, Sophia Popovitz, Samantha Diaz, Sadie Isseks,Ricky Gunzel, Bethany Mayes, Nayelin Monegro, Drew Mollo, and Zach Lennon-Simon. Costumes by Stacey Juengling.
