15th Hawaiian Christmas Concert with Makaha Sons and guests Waipuna and Patrick Landeza
Makaha Sons are the 2012 Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame winners. There music is breath taking and stirs the soul. Multiple Na Hoku Hano Award winners and a leader in Hawaiian music. With the passing of the beloved John Koko, the talented Eric Lee lends his hand and voice to Makaha Sons. They have played their music for over 35 years and Today, the Makaha Sons, considered to be one of Hawai'i's premiere Hawaiian musical groups, continue to perpetuate that vibrant sound, full and rich with harmonies that only they can create. Their incomparable vocal arrangements and delightful stage presence filled with comical antics have won the hearts of thousands of fans worldwide.

Waipuna, Four time Nā Hōkū Hanohano award winning Hawaiian music trio. Kale Hannahs, Matt Sproat and David Kamakahi bring their eclectic musical backgrounds and similar taste in music has led to the development of a unique sound that draws comparisons to their name, Waipuna, or spring water. Please check out their Facebook page waipunamusic.

Landeza, who won the award for Slack Key Album of the Year with his most recent release "Slack Key Huaka`i," began studying guitar as a teenager. The CD, which means "Slack Key Journey," is aptly-named. "I started learning slack key because I was around it all my life" says Landeza. "My uncles played, and at first I learned from them." After learning all he could from his uncles, Landeza went on to study under slack key's musical "royalty." Raymond Kane, Cyril Pahinui, George Kuo, and Dennis Kamakahi all took the young guitarist under their wings. Kamakahi, who won the Ki Ho`alu Foundation Legacy Award on Saturday, is quoted as saying that it is "testimony to his hard work and perseverance" that Landeza "is the first mainland-born Hawaiian to win this very prestigious music award" and that Landeza should "continue to strive for the best and bring pride to our Hawaiian culture."
