The Emerald Ball
Not only is emerald the Pantone color of the year, it is the North Carolina state precious stone! The 2013 Emerald Ball & Art Auction will be held throughout the Pink Dog Creative building located in the heart of Asheville's exciting River Arts District. The Pink Dog Creative, home of the Asheville Area Arts Council(AAAC) as well as a variety of great art studios and restaurants will be transformed into the Emerald City, the capital of OZ from L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of OZ. A live and silent Art Auction, curated by nationally recognized artist, Randy Shull, will be held as one of the evening's highlights. Works featured will be from local collections as well as the work of celebrated artists.
The AAAC will light up your night with a bottomless cup of Asheville's Favorite Troy & Sons cocktails and Highland Brewing Beer! All you can eat morsels, catered by distinguished local food artisans. VIP ticket holders enjoy excellent perks, such as a special artists' reception pre-party and sneak peek at auction items. As always, great entertainment and dancing will round out the night. Be sure to catch this years fire dancing, live painting, and pay a special visit to Professora Marvel to have your fortune told. (When was the last time you watched The Wizard of OZ?)
The Emerald Ball will raise funds for the Asheville Area Arts Council to continue its mission to strengthen the vitality and visibility of the creative community through its programs, advocacy, and grants.
