'First Thursdays' at The Independent - Sept 5 Dinner Series presents "Urban Homestead Dinner!"
The Indy is alive & 'First Thursdays' continue Sept 5th at The Independent with a 5-6pm 'Happy Harvest Hour' followed by our ''Urban Homestead Dinner" seating at 6pm.

FOOD: All courses will be served 'family style' on platters to be shared + devoured by friends new and old, so bring a social spirit! Look forward to meeting + eating next to contributing food artisans like La Balena, Pastries + Petals, The Wild Plum Cafe, Companion Bakeshop, Ashby Confections, Local Catch Monterey Bay & Happy Girl Kitchen!  

ART:  Plus inside the Gallery 'Olio Vintage Fun' will be displaying for sale a collection of vintage camping and homestead accessories, while outside the outlandish mobile art gallery 'work.shop.' will be hosting a campfire for roasting s'mores after you've eaten your dinner!  Inside work.shop. will hang the levitational art of Sarah Bianco will be hung on the walls to celebrate the last month of summer!

TICKETS: Only 100 Adult Dinner Tickets are available for $25.  Kids tickets are $10.
Military/Students/Sand City Residents $20 with I.D.
Families are encouraged to bring their CHILDREN confident in the casual atmosphere and 'Kids Corner' activities provided to entertain ($10 ticket for 12yrs + under).

RHYTHM:  A Happy Hour starts at 5pm so dinner ticket holders can come enjoy a leisurely seating while meeting featured food artisans & tasting their creations- some of the best in the region! Host Maddox Haberdasher will do his dandy darn-dest to make you feel welcome.  Come early for a Tomato Tasting and Canning Demo with Happy Girl kitchen at 5:15PM and a walking tour of Sand City's inspiring Community Garden at 530PM.  

THE INDY BOX:  Bring some cash, we are selling a take home 'Taste of The Indy Box' containing a selection from the evenings featured artisans;  mixed local organic vegetables & tomatoes from Lonely Mtn Farm (Corralitos), a fresh loaf of bread from Companion Bakeshop (Santa Cruz), local 'parmajack' cheese from Schooch Dairy (Hollister), smoked salmon collar from Local Catch Mont Bay (Monterey), and a cookie from Pastries & Petals (Carmel)-
all for $25 to support our collaborating vendors!

PLACE:  Imagine the expansive white interior of the Independent Art Gallery alive with a social seating of folks all enjoying a sequence of appetizers, main dish & desserts provided by the most progressive food artisans from Monterey to Santa Cruz.  Hung on the walls a series of posters illustrates the future of The Independent Marketplace-  come see the plans!

BEER from 'Post No Bills' ample selection is available for purchase. Come experience for yourself why Monterey Weekly voted Post No Bills 'Best Selection of Beers' in the county!
Pumpkin Beer will be a'flowin!

WINES will be poured by the glass by The Big Sur Food + Wine Festival folks!  
Visit the wine bar upon arrival to grab a glass and buy your tickets for that fantastic event Nov 3-6 in Big Sur, now in it's 5th year!  Go hiking with stem ware!

SODA:  Pop Culture will be sampling + selling their carefully sweetened organic artisan SODA (non alcoholic).

Save room for DESSERT . . . as Ashby Confections will be sharing their decadent chocolates alongside Pastries & Petals astounding "Cherry Hand Pies"!

AND AND AND Henry Miller Library returns to show their "Big Sur International Short Film Gala Finale Pre-Party"!  Come enjoy watching the amazing movies that WON the Big Sur International Short Film Festival in 2012.  Get excited to come 2 days later for their Gala Event at The Golden State Theatre in Monterey when they show the 2013 Winners!

MUSIC:  Need another reason to attend this Thursday's "Urban Harvest Dinner" at The Indy for $25?  How about listening to an 8 piece band!  'Valley Soul" will take your digestion to the next level with their folk rock fusion with jazzy overtones & a slight tinge of psychedelia!  These folks are frosting on the cake!
