SCRAP Humboldt presents Rebel Craft Rumble
A dash of Iron-Chef with a hint of Project Runway combined with our Humboldt County flair, SCRAP Humboldt presents Rebel Craft Rumble, a live crafting competition on Saturday, October 19 at 8pm at the Arcata Playhouse. Four teams of local artists representing nonprofits and businesses of their choices will take on creative reuse challenges and compete for the Extreme Ultimate Supreme Craft Master title. All materials are reused and gleaned from the unique and varied inventory at SCRAP Humboldt's creative reuse center. SCRAP Humboldt's mother organization, SCRAP has hosted this event in Portland for the past 3 years, and SCRAP Humboldt is excited to reinterpret the concept. Teams representing the Ink People for the Arts, The Rutabega Queens, 4 R Planet Waste Awarenes Education, and Playhouse Arts will see if they have what it takes. Judged by College of the Redwoods Art Professor and DIY Goddess, Claire Joyce, another crafty art star and woman of many talents and skills, Monica Topping and the man about town, comedian and someone who isn't afraid of granny squares, Dr. Foxmeat. Hosted by KHUM's Mike Dronkers, this event is the first of what will surely become an annual Humboldt County tradition.
