After Woody Tasch wrote, Inquiries into the Nature of Slow Money: Investing as if Food, Farms and Fertility Mattered (Chelsea Green, 2008),he and a small group started Slow Money, a non-profit NGO formed in 2009.

Woody will talk about the Slow Money principles that help transform fiduciary into "food-iciary" responsibility.  The network has catalyzed the flow of capital to small food enterprises, organic farms and local food systems. Woody talks about the successes that national gatherings and local/state-based chapters have had connecting /networking food entrepreneurs with local investors. In just four years, the Slow Money network has moved $30 million into small food businesses around the country,including farms, creameries, grain mills, niche organic brands, local processing,distribution and seed companies, and restaurants. Woody will highlight some of the most frequently used options, including peer-to-peer lending, secured loans, and equity investments.

Woody's earlier career included being the CEO of Invester's Circle,a national non-profit network dedicated to "patient capital for a sustainable future."  Trend spotters cite Tasch's Slow Money vision as a solution to manage the interrelated issues of economic crisis, sustainability, food sourcing and cultural renewal.
