The Story of DuPont State Recreational Forest with Sara Landry
Sara Landry, Executive Director of Friends of DuPont Forest, will share the origin story of our State's first recreational forest and how a group of concerned group of citizens saved it from development. In addition to the history of the area, Landry will also discuss the future of DuPont Forest and the organizations campaign for a Master Trails Plan.
Sara Landry is a native of Western North Carolina and grew up hiking all over these mountains as a camp directors kid and was born at Camp Sequoyah near Weaverville, NC. Sara has lived in almost every U.S. time zone, but this area was always home base.
She started her career in the Peace Corps as a Small Business Development Volunteer in Benin, West Africa. She has spent the past 15 years in the nonprofit sector working in marketing and communications most recently at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Asheville. Sara lives in Hendersonville, NC with her son and their female cat named George.
Tickets for this event are $20 and include the lecture, main special, delicious side, and a dessert.
