The Ashley Davis Band w Colin Farrell & Patrick Doocey.
Ashley has been with us before in the Burren Series both as a solo singer, and as part of the group Lunasa. Born in Lawrence, Kansas, she began performing live throughout the Midwest region at the age of 14. Four years later, she began her undergraduate study at Nashville's Belmont University, taking advantage of Belmont's renowned music program and studying literature from the Irish, British and Latin traditions, while also performing solo at many of Nashville's pubs and venues, including the legendary Bluebird Café. In 2006, she journeyed to the Isle of Man, where she was an Artist in Residence, capturing and recording the native Manx language, as well as the melodies and stories of the island.
The Burren Backroom series is now well established as one of the most sought-after boutique series of trad presentation in the world. It has already created already dozens of memorable, intimate, informal presentations held in a truly atmospheric space which was founded by well-known traditional musicians Tommy McCarthy and Louise Costello in Davis Square, Somerville, Massachusetts.
Hosted by Brian O'Donovan of A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH radio, these gatherings feature core performers from many aspects of traditional music as well as special guests, and conversations around the music. As is the custom of the Burren, it is anticipated informal and dynamic post concert sessions will be a feature.
