2020 From the Ground Up
Enrollment starts at 8:30am. Classes start at 9am. We have four tracks for you to chose from each hour with a variety of classes in each track.
Track One - Structural Pruning of Young Trees: Taught be Garth Davis, Spokane County Conservation District Learn the process of structurally pruning trees while they are young. Training a central leader into tall growing tress will create trees that are better able to avoid damage during snow and wind events. - Beekeeping in NE Washington: Taught by Doug Johnson - Tool Maintenance: Taught by Mike LeCaire, Sun Rental - Composting Basics: Taught by Spokane Master Gardeners
Track Two - Structural Pruning: repeat of Session 1 - Gardening on a Dime: Taught by Mary Sety, Master Gardener (limit 20) - Backyard Chickens: Taught by Pete Thompson, Burnt Valley Farms - Vermiculture Basics: Taught by Sherry Fox, Master Gardener (worm composting) (limit 20) Introductory class to the basics of vermiculture and how to maintain your own worm bin. Worms will be available for purchase. Please bring cash or check.
Track Three - Weeding with Goats - Wicking Pots - Reducing Lawns: Debra Kroon, Yakima Master Gardener Learn how to decrease your lawn and instead turn it into happy habitat for pollinators. - Vermiculture (worm composting): Taught by Sherry Fox Build your own worm bin in class. (limit 20) Worms will be on hand to purchase. Please bring cash or check.
Track Four - Know your enemies - ornamental weed identification - Home Grain Milling - Songbirds from the Ground Up - Soils 101
Ending Plenary: Master Gardener Roundtable Get all your basic gardening questions answered at this energetic roundtable made up of local and veteran Master Gardeners.
