The Ladies of Jazz - Typhanie Monique
JazzTimes magazine describes vocalist Typhanie Monique as a "modern-day Sarah Vaughan with iridescent traces of Lena Horne." Her 3 critically acclaimed, independently produced albums have captured the ears of Chicago Tribune jazz critic Howard Reich who writes: "Monique has never lacked for stage presence and vocal audacity...One of these days, the rest of the world is going to discover her."
She has performed with jazz's elite, including Joe Lovano, Chris Potter, The Manhattan Transfer and Mavis Staples.
Open Door is thrilled to open our "Ladies of Jazz" series with this incredible artist, the first of three who will perform on Sunday afternoons in March - a fabulous way to ward off the grayness of the end of winter.
