Or Shalom Fund Raising Dinner with Special Guest Speaker Marc Dollinger, Ph.D.
Professor Dollinger is Richard and Rhoda Goldman Chair in Jewish Studies and Social Responsibility at San Francisco State University. He is co-author of the book "California Jews". He interviewed and advised on the documentary, "American Jerusalem: Jews and the Making of San Francisco" recently screened to a sold-out audience at the SF Jewish Film Festival.
"If you want to be poor all your life," an eastern European Jewish immigrant was told, "go to New York. If you want to be rich, go to the other side." Meaning California, where economic prosperity and social acceptance promised Golden State Jews opportunities unknown in the East. Whether you are native to California, New York, or anywhere in between, come and hear a provocative talk that just might undo the way you think about American Jewry.
A special catered vegetarian dinner will served.
Professor Dollinger is donating his time for this event. All proceeds go to Or Shalom Jewish Community
