For the past forty years, Eastern European Jewish music has seen an unprecedented international resurgence, both as a traditional wellspring and as a point of departure for diverse creative endeavors. But, despite its success on the world stage, klezmer and Yiddish musical genres have had very little impact within the fields of Jewish education and Jewish studies. In this lecture, Yiddish music scholar Hankus Netsky will explore the reasons why and consider possible paths forward. _____________________________________________________________
