Made in Brooklyn Tour® of Industry City
A century ago, Irving T. Bush built a monumental, intermodal warehousing and distribution center on the Brooklyn waterfront employing 25,000 people. Ridiculed as Bush's Folly at the time, Bush Terminal would soon become a major international seaport. But by the 1960s urban manufacturing entered a decades-long period of decline as most major manufacturers closed their doors.
Fast forward to the present. An investment of hundreds of millions of dollars has transformed 16 factory buildings with 6M square feet of space into Industry City - a thriving micro-economy of hundreds of innovative businesses.
Join me on an industrial strength Made in Brooklyn Tour® of Industry City. Get off the ground floor and go behind the scenes of a curated selection of unique Brooklyn makers literally "makin' it" in Brooklyn. Tours are designed for small to mid-sized groups for an especially good time together. Celebrate our Creativity, Ingenuity & Entrepreneurial Spirit and see who's makin' it in Brooklyn!
About Me
My name is Dom Gervasi and I'm the native Brooklynite from Bensonhurst who started Made in Brooklyn Tours® back in 2011 after a career working for communications equipment manufacturers. Inspired by the makers I discover on my travels, I make it my business to seek out who's makin' it right here in Brooklyn. My tours feature creative people and small businesses, honor the innovators of Brooklyn's Industrial Revolution and highlight what makes Brooklyn so great. I personally design all Made in Brooklyn Tours and am a bonafide licensed New York City Sightseeing Guide.
COVID-19 Health & Safety Each day brings hopeful signs that the situation regarding COVID-19 is improving in New York. Made in Brooklyn Tours will do its part by continuing to operate with concern for the health and safety of our guests and the people and businesses that we visit. To this end, Made in Brooklyn Tours has taken the All in NYC: Stay Well Pledge and hopes that our guests will too.
Directions Tours begin and end inside Industry City in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Detailed directions will be sent to you shortly before your tour date.
