(Re)Imagined. . . .
Visualize a beautiful evening of celebrating the many forms of art and black creatives in a space that will ignite your passions and dreams too. (Re) Imagined. . . is a benefit concert that will support an original ballet coming to Atlanta in the spring of 2021. The hour-long concert will include different choreographic pieces shared by remarkable choreographers and guest performances from Abundance Dance Company and PacePoetry. The exhilarating event will also house live visual animations and original music. The evening will brightly shine a light on the positive representation of African American artists in the performing arts space. This one of a kind production is just an introduction to the other phenomenal work and ventures planned by LaPrincess Entertainment Group, LLC.
The benefit concert is for the original ballet, Vanity Lane, which made its debut at Harvard University in March 2018. The classical ballet written, composed, and performed by LaToya Princess Jackson tells a touching story of an insecure princess from the ancient land of Khamit that takes an unexpected journey into a realm of perfection where she is forced to battle societal expectations of beauty. It has been described as ArchAndroid meets Alvin Ailey and Apollonia, then moving to the Oz, where witches are found instead of the Wiz.
Guests can enjoy a coloring book signing after the concert for Introducing the Princesses of Vanity Lane. During the show the princesses from Vanity Lane will be presented and the coloring book will accompany the characters beautiful welcoming via the show. This will assist the audience with connecting even more with the characters and the powerful ballet.
Black creatives will have a chance to reconnect and begin a rebirth of exposure and appreciation for their talents during the concert. The concert is a way to reimagine everything about how we perceive blacks in performative spaces particularly in fields like ballet. Founder LaToya Princess Jackson views this event and the ones to follow as a ministry. The Harvard and Clark Atlanta University graduate has always had a profound connection to the arts and performing, through her studies and her career She is using her platform to speak life and hope into all the misfits, underdogs, and anyone who has experienced rejection or has been told that they should give up because they don't fit in the box that others have placed them in.
