Immanuel Lutheran Church 260th Anniversary
Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3184 Church Street in Manchester, will celebrate their 260th anniversary on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 5 pm and on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 9 am. An anniversary German Brunch will follow the Sunday 9 am service. Bishop Bill Gohl of the Delaware Maryland Synod will preach and lead worship with Pastor Charlie Marshall at the 9 am Sunday service. The public is invited. Immanuel church began on Feb. 12, 1760 when a group of German Lutheran and German Reformed settlers built a log church as a shared place of worship. In 1863 the congregations built separate buildings next to each other. Both congregations, Immanuel Lutheran Church and Trinity United Church of Christ, continue to serve the Manchester community side by side. Immanuel is the home of Kids Feeding Kids summer feeding program, Manchester's Little Free Pantry, Boy Scout Troop 320 and Cub Pack 320.
