Internationalité
Geña y Peña play songs of love and life, music that transports the audience to Latin America and the Caribbean. A sublime duet, Geña, born in Puerto Rico, provides vocals and percussion and Colombian-American Carlos Peña plays guitar. Since 2007, they have been playing boleros, montunos, bombas, plenas, and soul. Their sound captures the sweet and clear, the romantic and sultry, the beautiful and lively songs of yesterday.

Appalasia was formed in 2009 by Mimi Jong, Jeff Berman, and Sue Powers right here in Pittsburgh. Together they have created their own language for vocals, dulcimer, banjo, and the erhu, the traditional Chinese violin. Original composition and inspired improvisations reflect their roots in folk. Innovative and musically exciting, Appalasia combines instruments and vocals to create a musical experience that is nothing less than joyous.

Christopher Mark Jones fans know him for a rich voice thats slightly rough around the edges (Scott Mervis, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette). His original compositions feature engaging lyrics and his guitar-playing as intricate, providing wide-ranging textures and exquisite instrumentation (Larry Berger, Saturday Light Brigade). In 2017 Jones released his fifth album, Incantations, and the book Smoke on the Meadow: Selected Lyrics 1977-2017. Between careers as a basketball player and French professor, Jones busked in Paris, toured the UK, Denmark, and Holland, and played New England clubs. He now tours nationally from his Mt. Lebanon home. Jones and his band performed for Sunnyhill Live audiences in 2018 and with Heather Kropf, Ben Shannon, and Brad Yoder in 2019. For Internationalité, Jones will perform in a trio format, emphasizing his original French and internationally-oriented material.

The performance takes place in the 220-seat sanctuary of the Unitarian Universalist Church of the South Hills (Sunnyhill) in Mt. Lebanon, PA. Refreshments will be available for purchase before the show and during intermission. The building and restrooms are wheelchair accessible. Service dogs welcome.
