Caring for Pregnant Patients: Evidence and Practical Solutions
Middlesex District Annual Meeting to Honor Our Life Members and a CE program presenting "Caring for Pregnant Patients: Evidence and Practical Solutions" Presented by Lisa Simon, DMD CEUs 2
The Middlesex District Dental Society Annual dinner meeting will honor the District's life members with a presentation of the life member pins. The meeting will also include a presentation on Caring for Pregnant Patients: Evidence and Practical Solutions.
Course Overview: This presentation will review the importance and safety of providing dental care to pregnant patients and working with the medical team to coordinate care. Many pregnant patients do not seek dental care during or soon after pregnancy for a variety of reasons, including that some obstetric and dental providers remain unclear about national and state guidelines that define best practices for providing care to women and infants. Dental providers can help reverse this trend with increased awareness and by developing mutually beneficial referral networks with obstetric providers. This presentation will prepare providers to care for pregnant patients and infants.
Learning Objective: Provide comprehensive dental care for perinatal patients using evidence-based national and state guidelines; Understand the safety of perinatal care for dental interventions; Develop confidence providing anticipatory guidance and dental care to infants under 12 months; Implement office-based strategies for encouraging perinatal providers to refer to your office.
