Otsukimi Moonviewing Festival 2013
The Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix presents a traditional Japanese celebration of the full moon and an abundant fall harvest: Otsukimi Moonviewing 2013. This annual fundraiser is an evening of delicious meal and exciting entertainment. Feel the thrill of taiko drumming by Fushicho Daiko Taiko Drummers and Odaiko and Music from Japan by Ken Koshio. Be amazed at demonstrations by Arizona Aikido and Kenshin Dojo of Iaido Swordsmanship, and relax with lovely traditional Japanese dance by Phoenix Japanese Dance Ondo Group. Enjoy heartfelt musical performances throughout the evening. Discover shopping pleasures from a variety of vendors at our Marketplace and taste Japanese tea and sweet as found in tea ceremony.
You will enjoy dinner under the fall sky, peer through a telescope at the heavens, stroll the path, and feed the gorgeous koi as you cross the bridge over the pond. Feeling creative? Write a haiku poem!
A truly Japanese experience, Otsukimi is a much-anticipated annual event. Gates open at 4:30 pm and you may stroll the peaceful Garden path all evening as you enjoy the program.
The Japanese Friendship Garden is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in partnership with the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department and our Sister City of Himeji, Japan.
