Hot button topics in the Permian
Abstract - Operational risks are no stranger in the oilfield. Whether its concentration of risks in pads, GOR, or secondary zones that could underperform, the Permian story was never going to be all roses. Will operational issues doom the basin or should we expect even more from the Permian oil boom?
Three questions are front of mind as we consider the next stages of Permian growth: The Permian growth trajectory is changing - are the days of million b/d growth behind us? Tight oil development strategies continue to evolve, but are the risks worth the reward for cube development? As activity slows and generating cash flow is king, onstream production declines are more important than ever. Which companies face nearly insurmountable declines to offset?
Bio - Ryan joined Wood Mackenzie in 2012 and is currently based in Denver, CO as part of the US Lower 48 Upstream Research team. Since joining the company, he has been responsible for providing financial asset valuation, supply forecasts, and objective commercial analysis on company and unconventional play activity throughout North America. Ryan holds a BS in Environmental Science from the University of Michigan and an MS in Natural Resource Economics from Michigan Technological University.
