In Lieu Of Flowers by Katherine Beeson
"In Lieu of Flowers" is a lighthearted family drama set in a Midwestern diner, The Chatterbox Cafe. The owner of the cafe, Lou Flowers, passes away unexpectedly, leaving behind many untold secrets for his friends and beloved employees to discover. Fran, a longtime waitress at the cafe, is expected to inherit the Chatterbox, but surprise! A mysterious woman named Joan shows up, and it is revealed in Lou's will that both Fran and Joan are to co-run the cafe together. As time moves forward, Fran and Joan deepen their relationship in unexpected ways, and their own secrets are revealed to be intertwined with each other and Lou.
