Iphigenia and Other Daughters
Hamline University's Department of Theatre & Dance continues its 89th season with Iphigenia and Other Daughters, written by Ellen McLaughlin and directed by Hannah Coleman. A modern retelling of the Greek saga of Iphigenia, this play strides through the internal worlds and fatal flaws of the instrumental women in the original mythos. A play in three parts, Iphigenia and Other Daughters lays bare how women of myth wrestle with the cruel body of fate. In this ensemble-driven drama, the cast builds stark and startling images of women immobile, entrapped by fate and desperately trying to find their way out. Acclaimed playwright Ellen McLaughlin weaves a powerful tale of how all of us can find ourselves unstuck.
