Grants for Farmers Workshop
Did you know that there are several grant opportunities available just for farmers? Grant writing can be daunting, but the potential benefits to your business are well worth the effort. Join Pierce County Fresh for a workshop designed to teach you the basics of great grant writing and to provide information about specific grants available to farmers including the USDA Value Added Producer Grant and the Washington State Organic and Sustainable Farming Fund.

Presenters include:

Dr. Angela Beard, Director of the Sanford Institute of Philanthropy has more than 30 years of experience in the world of non-profits and grant writing. She will be breaking down the basics of effective grant writing from building your grant statement to outlining S.M.A.R.T. objectives.

Carlotta Donisi is a Business & Cooperative Programs Specialist at USDA Rural Development.  Carlotta provides assistance with the Value Added Producer Grant for farmers/ranchers, as well as Renewable Energy-Energy Efficiency grants for farmers/ranchers and small businesses.

Erin Murphy is the Statewide Education Coordinator at Tilth Alliance. She will be detailing the nuts and bolts of the Washington State Organic and Sustainable Farming Fund, a grant program offered in conjunction by Tilth Alliance and The HumanLinks Foundation

Nancy Iscovitz is the Special Projects Director for HumanLinks Foundation, a private family foundation that has awarded approximately $1.5 million in grants to WA sustainable farmers over the last 5 years. The Foundation is co-sponsoring a new program with Tilth for 2020.

Micha Ide owns and operates Bright Ide Acres with her husband in Orting, WA, and also manages the Pierce County Fresh buy local marketing program. Micha has successfully applied for and received several grants as a farmer (and is always applying for more!).

This workshop is now FULL, but we will be offering an online streaming via Zoom conference. Details below:
